A&O Shearman advises Mubadala Capital in closing its acquisition of Fortress Investment Group with Fortress Management

A&O Shearman advised Mubadala Investment Company PJSC in the completion of its acquisition, through its wholly owned asset management subsidiary Mubadala Capital, together with members of Fortress management, of SoftBank Group Corp’s 90.01% equity interest in Fortress, which SoftBank acquired in 2017.

The closing of the transaction occurred on May 14, 2024; the deal was originally announced on May 22, 2023.

With the closing of the transaction, a consortium led by Mubadala Capital now owns an approximately 68% equity interest in Fortress and Fortress management owns the remaining 32% equity interest.
