Senior Associate

Chinedu is a senior associate in the Projects, Energy and Infrastructure group based in London.
He has extensive experience advising project sponsors, governments, banks, ECAs, multilaterals, development finance institutions and other financial institutions on various complex finance, PPP, energy and infrastructure projects and banking transactions particularly across different sectors in Africa, Europe and the Middle East (including advising on project financings with a wide range of commercial banks, ECAs, development finance institutions and multilaterals). Chinedu is a Nigerian national and dual qualified in England & Wales and Nigeria.

Experience

Representative matters

  • The pathfinder ECAs and lenders on the project financing of the Helios world-scale 1m+ tpa integrated green hydrogen and ammonia project as part of the development of NEOM in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. The project includes 4GW solar and wind power generation and hydrogen electrolysis plant, storage facilities, a green ammonia plant and other associated facilities. Awarded Middle East & Africa Green Deal of the Year 2022 by PFI 2023.
  • The funders to Igneo Infrastructure Partners on its EUR2.3bn debt refinancing of the Finerge portfolio. Finerge owns 1.5GW of operational renewables capacity across 68 wind farms and 17 solar parks in Portugal and Spain. Awarded Renewables Deal of the Year 2022, PFI Awards 2023.
  • The finance parties (including the senior and mezzanine debt) on the GBP7bn project financing and build out for the acquisition of the Hornsea One offshore wind farm by Global Infrastructure Partners from Orsted A/S. This is the largest project financing in the renewables sector.
  • Nigeria LNG Limited a joint venture owned by a group of Gas and Oil Companies, on a first-of-a-kind USD3bn corporate financing for the Train 7 project at the Bonny Island liquefied natural gas facility in the Niger Delta.
  • IFC, AfDB and SACE-covered lender in connection with the financing of the development, construction and operation of Dangote Industries Limited’s refinery and fertiliser plant projects.
