Counsel

Christian is a derivatives and structured products lawyer who regularly advises large international financial institutions on their structured notes programmes for internal funding purposes.

Another focus of his practice is debt capital markets transactions including the establishment of EMTN and commercial paper programs, standalone notes issuances and Schuldschein loans.

Christian also advises on complex derivatives transactions under industry standard master agreements for financial derivatives, securities lending and repurchase transactions. He has extensive experience in drafting and negotiating highly structured derivatives documentation as well as in leading the approval procedures relating to public offer structured products programmes with the competent national authorities across Europe. In derivatives, Christian has also been advising clients on transactions on emissions allowance certificates and, more generally, on gaining access to the European Emissions Trading System.

Christian represents major financial institutions, asset managers and large corporate clients.

  • Several major international banks on using cash collateral transactions for regulatory capital purposes.
  • A consortium of major international banks on the update of their automated joint platform for the generation of key information documents.
  • A major U.S. bank in connection with its building and automating a platform for the generation of key information documents to be used across Europe.
