Curtis advises on a wide range of arbitration matters, including commercial arbitrations and investment treaty arbitrations, under the HKIAC, SIAC, ICC, ICSID and AIAC rules in a wide range of jurisdictions in the Asia Pacific region.
Curtis also sits as tribunal secretary. Curtis works with international clients in multiple sectors, including multinational banks, funds, corporates, pharmaceutical company and sovereign state. Curtis has experience advising clients on complex commercial disputes, investor-state dispute and disputes relating to joint ventures, debt, financial products and energy and infrastructure.

  • The Republic of Korea (Korea) as the lead international counsel in a high-profile USD150m investment treaty dispute, against a Chinese businessman, Mr Fengzhen Min, who was imprisoned in Korea after being convicted of embezzlement, misconduct and fraud.
  • An employer in an ICC construction arbitration relating to a hydroelectric power project in Central Asia.
  • Chinese multinational banks in a multi-party SIAC arbitration concerning disputes with the guarantor of a loan facility.
  • A multinational group in a HKIAC arbitration concerning dispute under a share transfer agreement in respect of a joint venture in China.
  • A pharmaceutical company in an SIAC arbitration concerning a joint venture dispute.
