Edyta Stopyra is a qualified advocate and an associate at A&O Shearman, A. Pedzich sp.k. in the Competition law department.

Edyta advises clients on all aspects of Polish and EU competition law, consumer protection, unfair use of contractual advantage and foreign direct investment control. She represents clients before both the Polish President of the Office of Competition and Consumer Protection and the European Commission.

Edyta regularly advises on complex domestic and international projects and global merger control, and has extensive experience in the telecommunications, oil & gas, energy and retail sectors in particular.

Experience

Representative matters

  • A public petroleum and natural gas company on antitrust aspects of its investment in Poland’s refining, wholesale, and jet fuel marketing segments through several acquisitions from the Polish oil refiner and fuel retailer Orlen following its merger with Grupa Lotos.
  • Bielenda Kosmetyki Naturalne, a portfolio company of Innova Capital, on the merger control aspects of its acquisition of Torf Corporation.
  • Real S.A., a major Polish producer of frozen fruits and vegetables, in proceedings before the President of the Office of Competition and Consumer Protection concerning payment gridlocks. The proceedings were closed with a decision in which the President of the Office of Competition and Consumer Protection refrained from imposing a fine on Real.
  • A subsidiary of a public petroleum and natural gas company and a multinational energy and petrochemical company on securing merger control clearances in Poland, China and Korea and an FDI clearance in Spain in relation to a planned joint venture to operate a synthetic fuels demonstration plant.

Pro bono

  • Organising A&O Competition University – a one-year program on competition law for Polish students.
