Dr Heike Weber

Heike is a transaction tax specialist. 

She focuses on advising on the tax aspects of structuring and executing mergers and acquisitions (with a special focus on the finance and insurance sectors), private equity investments, real estate transactions, restructurings and reorganisations. Heike also has significant experience advising on tax aspects of securitisations, financial instruments, derivatives as well as asset finance, real estate finance and leveraged finance transactions. Moreover, she regularly advises multinational corporations on their tax affairs and structuring issues. 

Heike has practised in transaction tax law for over 20 years and is a leading practitioner in this field. She is a regular speaker and author on national and international tax topics affecting her clients. 

 

Experience

Representative matters

  • A global financial services provider, AIP Management and Norges Bank Investment Management, on the acquisition of 49.9 percent of the shares in the planned 960 MW offshore wind farm "He Dreiht" from EnBW Energie Baden-Württemberg AG (EnBW) (investment costs around EUR 2.4 billion).
  • Hamburger Gesellschaft für Vermögens- und Beteiligungsmanagement mbH (HGV) advised the Free and Hanseatic City of Hamburg on entering into a long-term strategic partnership with Mediterranean Shipping Company S.A. (MSC).
  • SAP SE on the acquisition of LeanIX, a provider of Software-as-a-Service (SaaS) for the management of enterprise architectures and multi-cloud environments. This is one of the largest transactions in the venture capital sector in Germany and the largest acquisition for SAP in more than 5 years.
  • DigitalBridge Group, Inc and Brookfield Infrastructure entering into an agreement to acquire a 51% interest in GD Towers.
  • Athora Deutschland GmbH (Athora Deutschland) on the acquisition of a closed book portfolio of deferred annuities and foundations of the former DBV-Winterthur Life (DWL) from AXA Germany with assets under management of EUR 19 billion (AuA).
