Jan is a banking lawyer with a broad range of experience advising banks, funds and investors on transactions in the transport and energy projects sectors.
He also advises on construction and project documentation and on leasing and chartering arrangements in the aviation and shipping sectors. Jan is qualified in England & Wales and Ireland, and is a Settled European Lawyer in the Czech Republic. He has previously been based in London, Singapore, and Johannesburg.

  • Rand Merchant Bank on the financing of an innovative, 128MW hybrid solar-and-battery electricity generation facility constructed by Oya Energy in the Western and Northern Cape Provinces, South Africa.
  • The Vroon Group, a leading international provide of offshore, dry cargo, livestock and container shipping services on a landmark USD900m restructuring of its senior secured debt by way of a ‘debt-for-equity swap’.
  • Enel Green Power on the financing and construction of a 330MW wind power facility located in the Eastern Cape Provide, South Africa, one of the largest renewable power facilities in Sub-Saharan Africa.
  • A global financial institution and an international syndicate of shipping banks on a USD1bn secured senior facility for the purposes of financing the acquisition of six dual-fuel containership for a leading global shipping company, backed by K-SURE, the export credit agency of the Republic of Korea.
  • A financial investor on the restructuring of a series of financings linked to the Chapter 11 proceedings of Avianca, a leading South American airline and the associated sale of 11 ATR aircraft.
