Julia advises and represents both domestic and international clients from various sectors in all areas of dispute resolution in and out of court with a focus on banking and finance litigation. 

Her work revolves in particular around banking and finance-related proceedings. She frequently advises on disputes relating to tax-driven investments and has extensive experience with civil liability issues relating to cum/ex and cum/cum transactions. She also focuses on disputes and civil liability implications of ESG matters.

Julia also regularly advises and represents clients in commercial disputes, in particular in connection with supply chains.

Experience

Representative matters

  • A global financial institution against claim brought by Warburg Bank in the context of cum/ex trades.
  • A major bank to defend against claims by another bank in court proceedings. The alleged claims of the other bank are based on a change in the tax situation for securities loans and the corresponding possibilities to make use of withholding tax credits (so-called "Cum / Cum – Transactions").
  • An internationally operating bank regarding the claim based on a bank guarantee in the two-digit-million range by a Russian beneficiary subject to EU sanctions. The mandate includes legal advice from four different jurisdictions – Germany, Russia, France, UK. 
  • A German chemical company in a dispute with a supplier regarding a partial delivery failure due to an alleged Force Majeure event. Amount in dispute: around EUR 60 million.

Pro bono

  • The Chancery Lane Project: Transposing TCLP’s climate clauses to make them relevant and usable in Germany.
  • Advising a human rights charity on case law in respect of climate and policing in various jurisdictions.
