Thijs heads the commercial contracting team in Amsterdam. 

He has extensive experience in acquisition, disposition and finance transactions, (turnkey) project development and construction, leases, and connected real estate joint ventures and (corporate) structures.

Thijs has worked representing among other (institutional) investors and developers in the Real Estate and Energy sector since 2009. He has broad sector experience with a vast track record across the logistic & industrial, residential, hotel, office, retail and energy markets, navigating complex (cross border) transactions and projects.

In addition to his legal practice, Thijs regularly teaches and publishes on relevant real estate topics.

Experience

Representative matters

  • Investors, contractors and developers on residential developments, such as an innovative inner-city mixed-use development in Amsterdam, adjacent to railway tracks and station, consisting of two residential towers and commercial units in total of approx. 31.000 m² (previous firm experience).
  • The redevelopment and construction of a 500 room sustainable 4 star hotel in Amsterdam (previous firm experience).
  • A German real estate company on the EUR 900 million acquisition, from a global private equity real estate manager, of leisure real estate assets in Benelux and Germany (previous firm experience).
  • A  world-leading subscription streaming service and production company on the lease and refurbishment of its EMEA HQ (previous firm experience).
  • One of the largest real estate investment companies in Germany on the acquisition of a high-end 5 star hotel in Amsterdam (valued at EUR 260 million) (previous firm experience).
