Sian Avery

Associate

Sian is an intellectual property litigator with a particular interest in patents, copyright and trade secrets in the technology, telecoms and biotech industries.
She has experience on a range of cross-border contentious matters, including multi-jurisdictional patent disputes involving UK High Court proceedings with parallel actions in Germany, the U.S. and the UPC. Sian has also worked on trade secrets disputes, preparation for potential litigation in the life sciences sector and arbitration proceedings. Her experience spans various technical areas, with a particular focus on the High Tech and telecoms fields, including SEP/FRAND litigation.

A U.S. provider of satellite and video delivery solutions on its claim in the UK High Court for infringement of its patent in the field of adaptive bitrate streaming. 

A multinational technology corporation on IP Bridge’s claim for a declaration that it had offered fair, reasonable and non-discriminatory (FRAND) terms in respect of its standard essential patent (SEP) portfolio. 

One of the UK’s leading developers of retirement communities on a trade secrets dispute. 

A leading multinational display manufacturer on a patent action relating to OLED display technology. 

A multinational pharmaceutical company on pre-litigation preparations. 

 

Pro bono

A global human rights organisation of lawyers and advocates who ensure reproductive rights are protected in law as fundamental human rights on a report analysing Security Counsel resolutions, and on a separate report summarising the outcome of consultations on the topic of accountability for sexual and reproductive health rights.
