A&O Shearman advised International Finance Corporation on the project financing of a portfolio of distributed solar generation projects in Brazil developed by Origo Energia, a pioneer in distributed solar generation in Brazil.

The unique financing structure involves a 10-year dual-tranche loan for the BRL equivalent of approximately USD40 million extended to Origo to support the construction of 22 small, ground-mounted distributed generation projects across four states in Brazil with an aggregate installed capacity of 90 MWp.

IFC’s financing is structured as a green loan and includes concessional financing from the Clean Technology Fund, part of a World Bank Group initiative that provides large-scale new financial resources to invest in clean technology projects in developing countries.

The A&O Shearman team is led by energy, natural resources and infrastructure (ENRI) partner Robert O’Leary, and supported by ENRI associates Bilyana Belcheva and Eduardo Kappel, and visiting attorney Joaquin Garnham.
