A&O Shearman advises on UniCredit bond subscribed by CDP to ease Italian companies’ access to credit

Specifically, the resources will be fully employed by the bank through new loans of up to EUR20m and with a duration of no less than 24 months to support the development and investments of Italian SMEs and Mid-Caps, which represent the backbone of the country's economic fabric.

The new financing will contribute to generating a positive impact on the territories in which they operate and must be allocated:

• At least 51% in favor of small and medium-sized enterprises operating throughout the national territory.
• And for the same percentage in favor of SMEs and mid-cap companies with legal and/or operational headquarters in one of the eight Southern Regions (Abruzzo, Basilicata, Calabria, Campania, Molise, Puglia, Sardinia, and Sicily).

A&O Shearman advised in the transaction with a team led by partner Cristiano Tommasi, supported by senior associate Elisabetta Rapisarda and associate Paolo Martellone, and a team led by counsel Alessandra Pala, supported by associate Alessandro Negri.

The legal aspects of the operation on the CDP side were handled by the team coordinated by lawyer Antonio Tamburrano, Head of Legal Financing and Guarantees, lawyer Maurizio Iaciofano, Head of Legal Enterprises, Infrastructure and Financial Institutions, and lawyer Gianmarco Minotti, Head of Legal Financial Institutions, and composed of lawyers Claudia Senatore and Giulia Basso. 

On the Issuer side, the operation was coordinated in-house by the relevant functions of UniCredit.
