A&O Shearman has advised Societe Generale and Citibank in arranging a EUR500m facility for ENGIE, a global leader in low-carbon energy and services. The facility is covered by the Export and Investment Fund of Denmark (EIFO) and aims to support several onshore wind energy projects worldwide.

The transaction marks a significant milestone as it is the first financing for ENGIE involving an export credit agency from the OECD. It is also the first facility covered by EIFO to the French utility market. The facility aims to co-finance a total capacity of more than 1 GW across various projects, contributing to ENGIE's commitment to accelerating the global energy transition.

Amine Bourabiat, partner at A&O Shearman, commented: "We are delighted to have contributed to this landmark transaction for ENGIE, together with Societe Generale and Citibank. This transaction strengthens ENGIE’s relationships with institutions committed to the energy transition and also diversifies its sources of financing."

The A&O Shearman team was led by partner Amine Bourabiat, with Alexia Legrand and Ludmila Faïd.
