Digital bank Zopa secures GBP68 million of new investment

A&O Shearman has advised digital bank Zopa on an equity funding round which has raised just over GBP68m (EUR80m).

The funding round was led by Danish based conglomerate A.P. Moller Holding with significant participation by existing investors.

The funding will be used to support Zopa’s growth plans as it prepares to launch a current account in 2025.

The A&O Shearman team was led by partners William Samengo-Turner and Eimear Coady, with senior associate Charlotte Rowlandson and associate Richard Quarshie.

A&O Shearman partner Eimear Coady said: “Zopa is a longstanding client, and we are pleased to have been able to support it in this fund-raising activity as it continues its growth journey as a leading player in the UK fintech space.”
