Alexandre is an international disputes lawyer who advises and represents clients in matters related to various sectors and industries, with a focus on energy and shareholders disputes.

His practise primarily focuses on international investment treaty and commercial arbitration in matters seated in various jurisdictions and under the auspices of various rules (ICSID, ICC, LCIA, SCC CAMP). In particular, in the past 6 years, Alexandre has worked on eight investment treaty arbitration against the Kingdom of Spain, under ICSID rules for alleged violations of the Energy Charter Treaty, and two shareholders disputes involving projects in West Africa.

Alexandre also regularly acts in commercial and enforcement litigation before French courts and the courts of French-speaking African countries. Alexandre is currently based in the Madrid office, where he has been working since 2016, following a 5-year stint at the Paris office.

Representative matters

8 ECT claims against the Kingdom of Spain (Eiser, RWE Innogy, Stadwerke München et al, Watkins, Sevilla Beheer et al., Infracapital, EBL and Canepa). The claims arise out of retrospective changes made by Spain to the regulatory investment framework governing the renewables sector.

An international telecommunication company in a dispute with its joint venture partner in Cameroon over complex financial agreements (LCIA, English and Cameroon laws). Two international investors in a dispute against their joint venture partner in Côte d’Ivoire over alleged breach of the shareholders agreement (ICC, French and Ivorian laws).

A U.S. company on the enforcement attempt of a USD 802 million Nicaraguan judgment before the Paris courts Acts for an international bank in a criminal litigation before the court of Conakry (Republic of Guinea).
