Álvaro has more than 13 years of experience advising Spanish Public Law and Regulatory issues on domestic and international transactions, as well as in contentious-administrative and administrative proceedings. 

He is qualified both in Law and Business Administration and as an Expert on Terrestrial Passenger, Transportation and Mobility Management.

He has a particular expertise in the Energy, Telecommunications and Transportation sectors, but he has covered during his career many matters related to public procurement, planning as well as a broad variety of regulated sectors.

He has also worked in the Central Bank of Spain as an Attorney in the General Secretariat and thus, it combines its experience advising the private sector, with an actual knowledge on how a public authority works in practice.

Avanza on litigation with public authorities regarding tender processes or disputes with on-going contracts.

Orange Espagne on the regulatory litigation it has against the CNMC and/or other operators.

A Spanish Authority on the possibilities for changing its legal structure.

Sandfire Resources Limited on its acquisition and funding of the Minas de Aguas Teñidas S.A. (MATSA) mining complex from Mubadala Investment Company (50%) and Trafigura (50%) for USD1.865bn. This transaction won Deal of the Year in the 2022 MNN Awards.

Bruc Opt Energy Partners, S.L. on recurring acquisitions from Ingeniería y Planificación Sostenible, S.L.U. of photovoltaic projects in Spain with a total capacity of 1.2 GW.

 

 

Pro bono

Advising a pro-LGTBI+ rights association in a dispute over public subsidies with the Madrid City Council.

Preparing an advocacy toolkit covering the administrative, legislative and judicial tools that could be used by citizens in Spain to influence public policy and improve democratic participation.

Helping a Ukrainian refugee to learn Spanish.
