Gabrielle Leeman

Gabrielle’s practice focuses on advising various financial institutions, companies, and individuals in government inquiries, regulatory proceedings, and internal investigations, primarily regarding ESG / DEI, economic sanctions, and anti-money laundering laws.

Gabrielle also has experience representing clients across a range of industries in complex securities and antitrust civil litigations. Before starting law school, Gabrielle worked as a paralegal at the Department of Justice in the Antitrust Division and Office of the Deputy Attorney General.

Gabrielle has argued before the Maryland Court of Special Appeals, as part of the George Washington University Law School's Criminal Appeals and Post-Conviction Services clinic.

  • Multiple financial institutions regarding their ESG and DEI policies and programs, including analysis of alleged violations of global antitrust, consumer protection, and fiduciary duty laws.
  • Virtual currency company in an investigation by the SEC and DOJ for alleged securities and wire fraud.
  • International financial institution in an investigation by the NY DFS into AML compliance program.
  • Defense contractors and shipbuilders in antitrust class action alleging “no poach” agreements.
  • Online real estate services company in securities class action relating to de-SPAC merger.
  • Multiple companies’ compliance risk assessments.

Pro bono

  • Court-appointed counsel for individual client in Section 2255 habeas proceedings on Brady-related issues before the D.C. Circuit Court of Appeals.
  • Conducted an independent investigation into allegations of sexual assault of a minor.
  • Drafted reports and guidelines on Zambian LGBTQ+ rights and asylum opportunities.
  • Advised a nonprofit on development of security and intelligence services in Sudan.
