Igor advises and represents States and major corporate clients across the world on issues of public international law and in a wide range of international commercial and investment-treaty arbitration proceedings.
Igor’s experience includes arbitrations conducted under various ad hoc and institutional rules (including ICC, UNCITRAL/PCA and ICSID) in multiple sectors including energy, telecommunications, banking and insurance. He has also assisted clients in post-arbitration enforcement and annulment proceedings.

Representative matters

  • A North African State, defending multiple treaty claims at ICSID, related to a participation in the privatisation and operation of an oil refinery by an investor from Northern Europe; urban infrastructure projects by an investor from Southern Europe; and several waste management projects by investors from Western and Central Europe.
  • A Middle Eastern State, in a treaty claim at ICSID in relation to a major construction project.
  • A Southeast Asian State, in defending over USD 200 million investment treaty claim brought at ICSID in relation to the termination of telecommunication licences.
  • An international bank and a private equity fund, in a Paris-seated ICC arbitration against their majority shareholder in a West-African bank and insurance company. Our clients obtained a favourable award, allowing them to exit the investment.
  • The lenders, a State-owned financial institution and an international organisation, on the financing of the power plants in North African Country.
  • An Asian energy company, on several oil product-sharing agreements in various Western African States.

Pro bono

  • Assisted the Cyrus R. Vance Center for International Justice with legal research and information gathering relating to protections against sexual harassment in African countries.
