Lauren Beebe
Lauren’s practice focuses on representing multinational corporations, global financial institutions, and individuals in litigation, civil and criminal investigations and regulatory matters, and compliance and strategic counseling.

Lauren has drafted motions, briefs, and pleadings at every level of the federal court system and in various state courts across the country, addressing a wide range of legal issues and substantive areas. She has experience arguing in multiple federal and state courts, including before the U.S. Courts of Appeals for the Fourth and Sixth Circuits. She has obtained dismissals and appellate victories for clients across a range of industries, including a recent string of notable victories for several prominent companies in the successful defense of securities class actions.

In addition, Lauren advises clients on compliance issues and government inquiries and has represented clients in criminal and civil investigations led by the Department of Justice, U.S. Attorney’s Offices, and state Attorneys General and regulators. She has extensive experience advising corporate entities on risks related to their environmental, social, and governance commitments and practices. She also maintains an active pro bono practice focusing on federal criminal appeals.

Before entering private practice, Lauren served as a judicial law clerk to Chief Judge Timothy M. Tymkovich on the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Tenth Circuit.

Representative matters

  • Counsel for a special litigation committee of the board of directors of a large, multinational pharmaceutical distributor in stockholder derivative litigation and related investigation.
  • Advised multiple financial institutions regarding their environmental, social, and governance commitments, policies, and practices, including in response to alleged violations of antitrust, consumer protection, and fiduciary duty laws.
  • Represented Lumen Technologies and certain of its officers and directors in a federal securities class action based on a product rollout. Obtained dismissal and secured voluntary dismissal of subsequent appeal.
  • Obtained dismissal for PayPal in a federal securities class action related to performance metrics.
  • Represented Pattern Energy Group and certain of its officers and directors in stockholder litigation arising out of its acquisition by the Canada Pension Plan Investment Board, including claims for breach of fiduciary duty in state court and a parallel federal securities class action. Resulted in settlement of all claims.

Pro bono

  • Appointed by the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Fifth Circuit’s Pro Bono Program to represent incarcerated client for supplemental appellate briefing and oral argument regarding the applicability of the “favorable termination” requirement set forth in Heck v. Humphrey, 512 U.S. 477 (1994), and its progeny.
  • Briefed and argued portions of a direct criminal appeal in the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Fourth Circuit, as court-appointed counsel under the Criminal Justice Act.
  • Court-appointed counsel for individual client in Section 2255 habeas proceedings following the U.S. Court of Appeals for the D.C. Circuit’s grant of a certificate of appealability on Brady-related issues.
