Mark is an intellectual property litigator with over 20 years’ experience, advising on a wide range of cross-border, contentious matters.  

Mark has particular expertise in multi-jurisdictional patent disputes, as well as in patent licensing and trade secrets disputes, advising clients primarily from the life sciences, technology and financial services sectors.

Mark has a technical background (BEng (Hons) in Electronic Engineering), allowing him to take on the most complex cases whilst delivering strategic and commercial advice to clients.  Mark is ranked as a Leading Individual by Legal 500 (Intellectual Property: Patents), as well as by other major directories.  In the area of trade secrets, Mark is a member of the AIPPI Standing Committee on Trade Secrets and chairs the trade secrets sub-committee of a major UK industry association.

A multinational technology corporation on Conversant’s claim for a declaration that it has offered fair, reasonable and non-discriminatory (FRAND) terms in respect of its standard essential patent (SEP) portfolio.

Pfizer company, Warner-Lambert, on its ground-breaking action to enforce its second medical use patent for its blockbuster neuropathic pain medication, Lyrica (pregabalin), against Actavis and a large number of generic companies in the UK, as well as coordinating proceedings in France and Germany.

A leading financial services entity on parallel civil and criminal proceedings relating to the theft of high-value trade secrets. Urgent interim injunctions were obtained in multiple countries within 24 hours in order to contain the trade secrets breach. The case led to extradition proceedings and a successful prosecution on charges of computer misuse and fraud.
