Zuzana has represented multiple sovereign States and private clients on a wide range of contentious and non-contentious public international law issues, including law of international organisations, sovereign and diplomatic immunities, statehood, international trade law, land and maritime delimitation, human rights, international criminal law and the drafting, interpretation and application of international treaties. She has also represented States in proceedings before the International Court of Justice.
Zuzana has been involved in over a dozen investment treaty arbitrations under different institutional rules, including ICSID, PCA, UNCITRAL, SCC and LCIA. She has also represented numerous companies and private clients in commercial arbitration proceedings.
Prior to joining A&O Shearman, Zuzana spent nine years at a renowned public international law boutique in London where she advised on contentious and non-contentious matters of public international law and international dispute resolution. She also served as Senior Legal Advisor in the International Law Department at the Ministry of Foreign and European Affairs of the Slovak Republic, where she advised on practical issues of public international law, including international humanitarian law (various aspects of the armed conflict in Ukraine) and was a member of a working group tasked with preparation of sanctions legislation.
Zuzana holds an LL.M. degree in International Business Regulation, Litigation, and Arbitration from New York University School of Law, and a law degree from Comenius University in Bratislava. She delivered lectures on public international law and international arbitration issues at King’s College London and University of Notre Dame in London.
