Chris is Middle East, Turkey and Africa Corporate Trust and Agency Lead and works alongside the London based Corporate Trust and Agency Partners on the wider EMEA practice.
He advises corporate trustees and agents across the full spectrum of debt capital markets transactions (including project bonds, MTN programmes, standalone bond issuances, sukuk and securitisations) and banking transactions (including project finance, leveraged and acquisition financing, Islamic finance, syndicated lending and restructurings) including associated defaults, restructurings, amendment and consent processes and the exercise of discretions.

  • The Intercreditor Agent, Offshore Security Agent, Onshore Security Agent and Account Banks in relation to the c.USD750m financing by the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development, the Eurasian Development Bank and the Islamic Development Bank of the “Big Almaty Ring Road” in Kazakhstan.
  • Deutsche Trustee Company Limited, a global financial institution and Abu Dhabi Branch as Delegate and Security Agent on the Dana Gas Sukuk litigation.
  • Abu Dhabi Commercial Bank P.J.S.C. as Restructuring Agent, Calculation Agent and Security Agent on the circa USD4.6bn debt restructuring of the Al Jaber Group.
  • An independent agency services provider in the agency and security agency roles in relation to the restructurings of the Interserve Group’s debts.
  • The agents and account banks on the USD10bn Coral FLNG Project in Mozambique.
  • Three international banks and two Bahraini banks in the agency and account bank roles in relation to the DFI-backed and commercial bank financing (including by way of Islamic bank debt) of the BAPCO Modernisation Project.
  • The Delegate on the establishment of Saudi Telecommunications Company’s USD5bn Sukuk Programme and subsequent issuance of USD1.25bn Trust Certificates thereunder.
  • The Trustee on the establishment of Saudi Aramco's Global Medium Term Note Programme.
  • The Principal Paying Agent on the establishment of the State of Kuwait's USD10bn Global Medium Term Note Programme.
  • The Principal Paying Agent and Exercise Agent on the issuance of GBP500m Trust Certificates due 2026 by HM Treasury.
  • Deutsche Trustee Company Limited as Delegate on a sharia-compliant LPN transaction for Qatar Islamic Bank.
  • An international bank in its agency capacities on the scheme of arrangement relating to, and restructuring of, the E D & F Man group’s liabilities.
  • An independent agency services provider and an international bank in their respective agency capacities on the restructuring of Enermech’s liabilities.
  • The Delegate on the liquidation of Asya Katilim Bankasi AS and the subsequent default under the USD250m Fixed Rate Resettable Tier 2 Certificates issued by Asya Sukuk Company Limited.
