Jean specialises in retail finance services with a particular focus on regulated lending (secured and unsecured), retail banking, payments, e-money and general insurance mediation. 

She has more than 30 years’ experience in the retail banking sector and regularly advises banks, building societies, non-bank lenders, e-money issuers, payments firms, private equity firms and other corporate investors on all matters arising in relation to retail financial services, from perimeter challenges and authorisation to enforcement and mergers and acquisitions. Having previously worked in-house, including heading up the UK regulatory legal team at the private banking division of a major retail bank and working at a specialist motor finance bank, she has a clear understanding of the practical challenges facing businesses and is known for providing practical, commercial and pragmatic advice.

Jean is a member of the Upper Tribunal (Tax and Chancery).

  • A leading global investment back on provision of financing lines to an unregulated lender to facilitate the making of loans and hire agreements to Uber, Bolt and drivers on other similar platforms (previous firm experience).
  • A major UK payments provider on provision of loans to merchants using its platform (previous firm experience).
  • Undertaking due diligence on various unsecured commercial lending firms – both regulated and unregulated (previous firm experience).
  • Undertaking due diligence on a bank including its commercial finance division (previous firm experience).
