Marta is Head of the competition and EU practice in Warsaw and coordinates the competition practices of our CEE offices.
She advises on a wide range of competition law issues arising out of commercial agreements, as well as on cases concerning abuse of a dominant position and high profile mergers. She represents clients in matters before the Office of Competition and Consumer Protection and the European Commission.

Representative matters

  • Aramco on its investment in Poland’s refining, wholesale, and jet fuel marketing segments through a number of acquisitions from PKN Orlen, including advice on the purchaser approval case before the European Commission, multiple merger filings outside the EU and the FDI filing in Poland.
  • A global retail company regarding the sale of its operations in Poland to Salling Group A/S. We advised the client in the merger review process before the European Commission and then before the Office of Competition and Consumer Protection.
  • Yetico, a Polish manufacturer of styrofoam boards, in appeal proceedings before the Polish courts against the decision of the Office of Competition and Consumer Protection.
  • Cemex Polska, in a landmark case originating from a cartel decision of the Office of Competition and Consumer Protection in which it imposed the highest fines in its history on five cement producers, including Cemex Polska. This case was eventually brought before the Court of Justice of the European Union.
  • P4, a Polish mobile phone operator, in an investigation by the President of the Office of Competition and Consumer Protection regarding an alleged cartel concerning mobile television services. The Polish courts of both instances repealed the decision of the Office.

Pro bono

  • Marta is the head of the Warsaw Social Impact Team. She supports the Warsaw team’s initiatives and Allen & Overy’s global pro bono programmes. Marta is involved in legal pro bono initiatives for the Court Watch Foundation. Outside of Allen & Overy, she supports a charity that provides care for disabled people.
