Global Head - Process Improvement

Owain leads the Legal Process Improvement team who work seamlessly with our lawyers to redesign legal services, processes, and tasks to deliver improved outcomes for our clients and the firm. 

The team lead the redesign of delivery models and new legal products by taking a problem led process first approach to innovation, leveraging the very best technology, resourcing, and data solutions available.

Owain is an expert at helping teams to see where inefficiencies and opportunities and leading them through change to deliver measurable business outcomes. Owain leverages a diverse toolkit tailored to the legal environment founded on the customer value centric principles of lean, coupled with a data driven approach and robust change management.

In addition, Owain collaborated with Consulting by A&O Shearman to work with clients to help them unlock value in their own legal processes.

Prior to joining the firm, Owain led Continuous Improvement for another international law firm and advised key clients on legal process improvement strategies. Previously, Owain had a career in Consulting, leading global transformation programmes for large corporations across retail, banking, manufacturing, insurance, and energy.

Owain is a qualified Managing Successful Programmes (MSP), Prince 2 practitioner and has deep expertise in applying Lean Six Sigma, change and programme management methodologies within the legal environment.

Representative matters

  • A large international brewer and exporter to review and redesign product development processes to include compliance assurance steps for new products to market to reduce the risk of non-compliance and write off.
  • Bank in Singapore to redesign their NDA and partnership agreement processes to make more of the technology they had available and free up the small overwhelmed legal team.
