Dr Tobias Wintermantel

Senior Associate

Tobias advises on a broad range of domestic and cross-border banking and finance law matters.

He has more than twenty years of experience in asset finance, project finance and leasing transactions mainly in the transportation and energy sector with a focus on aircraft, rolling stock, ships, projects and real estate finance.

He has gained vast industry expertise, has deep knowledge of market practice and is familiar with a wide range of transaction structures. His practice generally covers all sorts of complex financings, refinancings and restructurings as well as sector and asset specific advice, in particular in relation to aircraft, ships and all types of rolling stock.

Tobias works with clients across jurisdictions with a commercial focus for tailor-made solutions.

Representative matters

  • A European specialist bank for infrastructure and energy financing as lender and mandated lead arranger for an Italian solar project financing totaling 550 MWp in Lazio.
  • A consortium of infrastructure investors including AIP Management and Norges Bank Investment Management on the acquisition of 49.9% of the shares in the planned 960 MW offshore wind farm "He Dreiht" from EnBW Energie Baden-Württemberg AG with an investment volume of around EUR2.4bn.
  • Two banks on a Japanese Operating Lease transaction with Deutsche Lufthansa AG regarding three Airbus A321-271NX aircraft.
  • The European Investment Bank on a venture capital financing for OneDealer Single Member S.A. and relating issuance of warrants in the parent of the borrower for the benefit of EIB. The transaction included an innovative remuneration scheme for EIB through loan interest and warrants in borrower’s parent.
  • The owners of the long-established Bremen based Carl Büttner Group, a commercial shipowner and manager, on selling the company to the UK based Lomar Group.
  • Hammonia Reederei GmbH & Co KG on the secured financing of the acquisition of two tanker vessels to be registered in the German ship register with a Dutch bank as lender, arranger, agent and hedge counterparty.
  • A group of financial institutions on the financing of five Airbus aircraft for Deutsche Lufthansa AG.
  • A consortium of banks on the refinancing of the project financing of “Global Tech I”, an offshore wind park in the German North Sea.
