A&O Shearman has advised Exponent and its portfolio company SHL, the largest provider of psychometric and cognitive talent assessment for business globally, on the refinancing of SHL’s existing debt.

The global A&O Shearman team was led from London by sponsor leveraged finance partner and private equity sector lead (Europe), Neil Sinha and senior associate James Green, together with associates Elizabeth Athanassios and Maaya Sachdev and trainee Edward Crosby, in London.  Other teams from Amsterdam, Brussels, Johannesburg, Milan, New York and Sydney also assisted in the transaction.

Neil Sinha commented “it was great to advise Exponent and SHL on this refinancing. The debt markets are very constructive at the moment and we’ve been active on refinancings and re-pricings with sponsors and their portfolio companies looking to benefit from that.

We have also seen an uptick in private equity M&A activity and the sponsor side team has been busy during H1 2024, including advising Exponent on its financing to acquire Chanelle Pharma, CVC on its financing to acquire Monbake, PAI on its financing to acquire Audiotonix, Providence Equity Partners on its financing to acquire VivaGym Group and PSG and Sport Alliance on its financing to acquire PerfectGym. The pipeline for H2 2024 is looking strong and continuing to build”.
