A&O Shearman is advising Brookfield on the sale of Greenergy to Trafigura

A&O Shearman is advising Brookfield on its sale of Greenergy's European business and North American supply business to Trafigura for an undisclosed sum. Greenergy, founded in 1992 as a low-emission diesel supplier, is one of Europe's largest biofuel producers with plants in the UK and the Netherlands and a leading road fuel distributor in the UK. The Greenergy business also includes a fuel supply business in North America.

The London based team from A&O Shearman is being led by M&A partner Alex Tilley and includes senior associate James Funder and associates Ben Brooks and Isabelle Graves. Tax advice is being provided by partner Lydia Challen, senior associate Hugh Brooks and associate Mitchell Fraser. Financing advice is being provided by sponsor-side leveraged finance partner Neil Sinha, senior associate Dhruv Mairal and associate Aneesha Jagatia and regulatory advice is being provided by partner Matt Townsend.

A&O Shearman’s mandate on this transaction follows-on from A&O’s advice to Brookfield on its successful refinancing in 2023, led by sponsor-side leveraged finance partner Neil Sinha and trade finance partner Catherine Lang-Anderson.
