A&O Shearman supports Ripple in USD1.25 billion acquisition of Hidden Road
A&O Shearman supported Ripple as non-U.S. counsel on due diligence and regulatory matters in its USD1.25bn acquisition of Hidden Road, one of the fastest-growing prime brokers in the world.

Based in San Francisco, Ripple is the leading provider of digital asset infrastructure for financial institutions. Based in inter alia London and Amsterdam, Hidden Road offers institutions a one-stop-shop of advanced services including clearing, prime brokerage, and financing.

With the acquisition, Ripple becomes the first crypto company to own and operate a global, multi-asset prime broker. The transaction was announced on April 8, 2025 in a press release. The deal is expected to close in the coming months, subject to regulatory approvals.

The A&O Shearman team that supported Ripple included London-based M&A partner Hugh Robinson alongside associates Andrew Pang and Natasha Rarity, and Financial Services Regulatory partner Nick Bradbury with associates Greg Talbot and Adam Harwood. In the Netherlands, the team included Financial Services Regulatory partner Pien Kerckhaert alongside associates Pien van Vliet and Michaël Guenneguez.
