A&O Shearman advises BNPP AM on CVE Biogaz fundraising

A&O Shearman advised BNP Paribas Asset Management (BNPP AM) on the EUR70 million fundraising of CVE Biogaz, a subsidiary of independent renewable energies producer CVE and a major player in organic matter recovery and methanization in France.

This fundraising, combining shares and convertible bonds, is based on a significant investment from the Low Carbon Transition Infrastructure Equity Fund of BNP Paribas Asset Management (BNPP AM). Created in 2024, this fund is dedicated to financing low-carbon infrastructure projects in Europe. This investment underlines BNPP AM’s ambition to support companies contributing to the energy transition.

The operation will enable CVE Biogaz to accelerate its development and strengthen its position in the methanation market in Europe.

Alexandre Ancel, partner at A&O Shearman in France, stated: "We are delighted to have advised BNPP AM on the third investment of its fund. The methanation sector is experiencing rapid growth, and this operation will help support companies contributing to a low-carbon economy in Europe”.

The A&O Shearman team was composed of partner Alexandre Ancel, counsel Flora Leon-Servière and associates Astrid Achard-Hoffman and Jérôme Païs on corporate aspects, partner Romaric Lazerges, senior associate Pauline Choplin and jurist Lara Fontaine on public law and project contracts aspects, partner Florence Ninane and associate Noémie Bomble on antitrust aspects, as well as partner Olivier Picquerey and associate Joanna Strzelewicz on employment aspects.
